What Tolperisone 150mg Tablets are and what they are used for Tolperisone 150mg Tablets contain the active ingredient tolperisone hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants. Tolperisone 150mg Tablets are used to relieve muscle spasms and pain associated with muscle spasms. 2. Before you take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets Do not take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets if you: • are allergic (hypersensitive) to tolperisone hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Tolperisone 150mg Tablets (listed in section 6) • have a history of epilepsy or any other seizure disorder • have a history of liver or kidney disease • are pregnant or breast-feeding. Take special care with Tolperisone 150mg Tablets: • If you have any of the following conditions, you should tell your doctor before taking Tolperisone 150mg Tablets: – heart disease – high blood pressure – diabetes – thyroid disease – glaucoma – prostate problems – a history of depression – a history of drug or alcohol abuse. • Tolperisone 150mg Tablets may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience these effects, do not drive or operate machinery. • Tolperisone 150mg Tablets may cause blurred vision. Taking Tolperisone 150mg Tablets with food and drink: You should not drink alcohol while taking Tolperisone 150mg Tablets. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Do not take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Driving and using machines: Tolperisone 150mg Tablets may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience these effects, do not drive or operate machinery. Important information about some of the ingredients of Tolperisone 150mg Tablets: Tolperisone 150mg Tablets contain lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. 3. How to take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets Always take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The usual dose is one tablet three times a day. Your doctor may increase the dose if necessary. The maximum dose is four tablets a day. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew the tablets. If you take more Tolperisone 150mg Tablets than you should: If you take more Tolperisone 150mg Tablets than you should, contact your doctor or nearest hospital casualty department immediately. Take the medicine pack with you. Symptoms of an overdose may include drowsiness, confusion, blurred vision, dry mouth, difficulty in breathing, low blood pressure, and coma. If you forget to take Tolperisone 150mg Tablets: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Tolperisone 150mg Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop taking Tolperisone 150mg Tablets and see a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following: • Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty in breathing or swallowing. • Severe skin reactions such as blistering, peeling or redness of the skin. • Severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools. • Severe dizziness, confusion, fainting, fits or seizures. • Unusual bleeding or bruising. • Unusual tiredness or weakness. • Unusual changes in behaviour or mood. • Unusual changes in vision. • Unusual muscle weakness or pain. • Unusual joint pain. • Unusual changes in heart rate or blood pressure. Other side effects include: • Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, rash, itching, sweating, difficulty in sleeping, depression, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, increased sensitivity to light, ringing in the ears, muscle weakness, joint pain, increased heart rate, low blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, swelling of the legs and feet. If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store Tolperisone 150mg Tablets Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use Tolperisone 150mg Tablets after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Store below 25°C in a dry place. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment. 6. Further information What Tolperisone 150mg Tablets contain: The active ingredient is tolperisone hydrochloride. Each tablet contains 150mg of tolperisone hydrochloride. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide yellow (E172) and iron oxide red (E172). What Tolperisone 150mg Tablets look like and contents of the pack: Tolperisone 150mg Tablets are white, round, biconvex tablets, marked with ‘T150’ on one side.
