Introduction

The Surgeon General has just issued an important warning to all Americans: Eat This Not That. This warning is based on the latest research and evidence that suggests that certain foods can have a negative impact on our health. Eating the wrong foods can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses. Eating the right foods, on the other hand, can help us maintain a healthy weight, reduce our risk of chronic diseases, and improve our overall health. This warning is an important reminder that we need to be mindful of what we eat and make sure that we are eating the right foods.

Surgeon General Just Issued This Important Warning — Eat This Not That

The Surgeon General has issued an important warning to Americans about their diets. According to the warning, Americans should be eating more of certain foods and less of others. The Surgeon General recommends eating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, and avoiding processed foods, sugary drinks, and foods high in saturated fat.

The Surgeon General’s warning is part of a larger effort to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Eating a healthy diet can help reduce the risk of these diseases, as well as other health problems, such as obesity. Eating a balanced diet can also help improve overall health and well-being.

In an era of polarization during the coronavirus pandemic, Americans have one thing in common: We share the same U.S. Surgeon General, and his name is Dr. Vivek Murthy and all year long, he has been on the frontline of this pandemic trying to keep people safe. He did the same within the last 24 hours, appearing on CNN and CBS This Morning to offer an update—and a warning. Pfizer just applied for an Emergency Use Authorization for a booster for all adults. Do we all need one? “That’s what the FDA is going to have to look into,” said Dr. Murthy. “They’ll have to examine the data carefully, understand whether giving a boost to that additional group of people that Pfizer is recommending is both safe and effective, but here’s what we’ve seen already from preliminary results from, from Israel, from their experience, they have seen a significant increase in protection when they’ve given boosters across the population. But the most important thing we’ve got to remember right now is if you’re eligible for a booster, please go out and get boosted. And if you haven’t been vaccinated at all, it is imperative that you get vaccinated because we still have a lot of COVID floating around and winter is coming, which means that there’s a chance—that is more people going indoors—there’s a risk for spread.” He said the decision about a booster may come in a few weeks.

“Thanksgiving coming up, should unvaccinated people be fraternizing over holiday dinner with vaccinated people?” “Well, look, I think if you’re gathering indoors with a vaccinated and unvaccinated people together, that is certainly a higher risk situation, especially if you’re a parent like me and you’ve got unvaccinated kids at home because they’re not eligible yet, or they haven’t gotten a vaccine yet, then you want to be especially cautious. So the other thing though, to remember is there are steps can take to reduce risk, further wearing masks. Indoors helps using testing strategically, can also help to reduce the risk of people coming to a gathering infected.”

“As we look to the future, I think what is likely to happen is that there will be coronavirus around for, for some period of time. But I do think we can knock it down in terms of its severity. And second, we can reduce the number of cases so we can get to the point where we live with it, just like any other respiratory virus, that’s where the vaccines have been so helpful. Keep in mind, if you look at the Delta wave we experienced over the summer, the vast majority of people who had severe infection were hospitalized or who died, where people who were un-vaccinated. And that means again, and tells us that these vaccines are remarkably effective. We also have two new oral medications that are on the horizon. The FDA has to review their data, but the initial trials showed that they were very effective for reducing hospitalization and death.”

Footballer Aaron Rogers said he was allergic to a component in the vaccine. “There are very, very small number of people who may have an allergy to one of the components of the vaccine. This is a very rare though,” said Dr. Murthy. “And in those cases then, they can talk to their doctor and we can, they can look for an alternative vaccine. But again, this is exceedingly rare. One of the things I think the draw though, from this whole example that it’s been talked about more recently, is it who you get your information from really matters because somebody has millions of followers, you know, in social media, because they happen to have a well-known name does not mean that they are a credible authoritative source when it comes to vaccine information. And especially now that we have a vaccine that’s out for kids five through 11, it’s, especially important that parents know that there’s misinformation out there. They talk to their doctor, their department of health, their children’s hospital, or the CDC to actually get credible information about the vaccine.”

Actor Matthew McConaughey said he was vaccinated–but he may wait to have his young child vaccinated. As a parent himself, Dr. Murthy knows “there’s nothing more important than the safety of our children, right? And so if you’re a parent out there and you’ve got questions, that’s okay to have questions,” Murthy said on CNN. “You know, you should ask you a question and you should get them answered. My thing is I really want to make sure people get them answered from credible sources. Keep in mind this I’m gonna draw a parallel here. When we began the, the vaccination effort for adults, actually a few months before we had the vaccine available. If you looked at polls, they showed that about a third or so of adults where you’re ready to go out and get the vaccine right away. Right? What changed though is then the FDA and CDC wait, and people saw their friends and family get vaccinated.”

“People also recognized that they were getting protected,” he said. “And they got that chance to talk to their doctors about the vaccine. All of that is going to start happening now with vaccines, for children as well. So what I would encourage parents to recognize is number one COVID is not harmless in our children. Many kids have died. Sadly, hundreds of children, thousands have been hospitalized. And as a dad of a child who has been hospitalized in the several years ago for another illness, I would never wish upon any parent that they have a child who ends up in the hospital and the vaccines have shown in these trials for children, five through 11, there are more than 90% effective in protecting our kids from symptomatic infection. And they’re remarkably safe as well. The kind of side effects they saw were a sore arm, fatigue, headache. They lasted for a day or two, and kids were actually left with protection from the virus. So please consider strongly getting your children vaccinated.” Go get vaccinated, and to protect your life and the lives of others, don’t visit any of these 35 Places You’re Most Likely to Catch COVID.
