Introduction

Dosage and Administration MONTELUKAST SODIUM 4MG + LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 2.5MG TABLETS (Montelukast Sodium + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride) should be taken orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. The usual dose is one tablet once daily. Do not take more than the recommended dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Do not drive, operate machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages. WHAT MONTELUKAST SODIUM 4MG + LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 2.5MG TABLETS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets are a combination of two medicines: Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride. Montelukast Sodium belongs to a group of medicines called leukotriene receptor antagonists. Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets are used to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in adults and children aged 6 years and over. Allergic rhinitis is an inflammation of the inside of the nose caused by an allergy to substances such as pollen, dust mites, animal fur, moulds or feathers. The symptoms of allergic rhinitis include sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, itchy nose, itchy eyes and itchy throat. Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets work by blocking the action of substances in the body called leukotrienes and histamine. These substances are involved in causing the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. 2. BEFORE YOU TAKE MONTELUKAST SODIUM 4MG + LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 2.5MG TABLETS Do not take Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets if you: • are allergic (hypersensitive) to Montelukast Sodium, Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets (listed in section 6) • are pregnant or breast-feeding • are taking any other medicines containing Montelukast Sodium or Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride. Take special care with Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets: • If you have liver or kidney problems, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of depression, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have epilepsy, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of fits (seizures), your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of heart problems, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of high blood pressure, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of asthma, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. Taking Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets with food and drink Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets can be taken with or without food. Pregnancy and breast-feeding Do not take Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Driving and using machines Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery. Important information about some of the ingredients of Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets contain lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. 3. HOW TO TAKE MONTELUKAST SODIUM 4MG + LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 2.5MG TABLETS Always take Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is: Adults and children aged 6 years and over: The usual dose is one tablet once a day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew the tablet. Do not take more than one tablet a day. If you take more Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets than you should If you take more Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets than you should, talk to a doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Take the medicine pack with you. This is so the doctor knows what you have taken. If you forget to take Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you stop taking Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets Do not stop taking Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets unless your doctor tells you to. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS Like all medicines, Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop taking Montelukast Sodium 4mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 2.5mg Tablets and see a doctor or go to a hospital straight away if you notice any of the following serious side effects – you may need urgent medical treatment: • Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, skin rash or hives. • Severe skin reactions such as blistering, peeling or redness of the skin, with or without fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers or other signs of infection. • Severe stomach pain, with or without nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). • Unusual bruising or bleeding. • Severe tiredness or weakness. • Unusual muscle pain or weakness. • Unusual changes in mood or behaviour. • Unusual changes in vision. • Unusual changes in heart rate or blood pressure. • Unusual changes in liver function tests. • Unusual changes in kidney function tests. • Unusual changes in blood tests.
