LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 5MG + MONTELUKAST SODIUM 10MG

Introduction

TABLETS (hereinafter referred to as “the Product”) is a fixed dose combination of Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride and Montelukast Sodium. Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist and Montelukast Sodium is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. The Product is indicated for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. The Product is also indicated for the relief of symptoms of asthma in adults and children 12 months of age and older.

Indications The Product is indicated for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. The Product is also indicated for the relief of symptoms of asthma in adults and children 12 months of age and older.

Dosage and Administration The recommended dose of the Product is one tablet taken orally once daily. The tablet should be taken with or without food.

Warnings and Precautions The Product should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the Product. The Product should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment. The Product should be used with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. The Product should be used with caution in patients with a history of depression or other psychiatric disorders.

Adverse Reactions The most common adverse reactions reported with the use of the Product include headache, somnolence, and dizziness. Other adverse reactions reported with the use of the Product include nausea, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

Drug Interactions The Product may interact with other medications. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking before starting the Product.

Storage The Product should be stored at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

Levocetirizine dihydrochloride is an antihistamine which helps to relieve the symptoms of allergies such as hay fever, skin allergies and hives. Montelukast sodium is a leukotriene receptor antagonist which helps to reduce inflammation in the airways and helps to relieve the symptoms of asthma. Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets are used to treat the symptoms of asthma and allergies in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. 2. BEFORE YOU TAKE LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 5MG + MONTELUKAST SODIUM 10MG TABLETS Do not take Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets if you: • are allergic (hypersensitive) to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, montelukast sodium or any of the other ingredients of Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets (listed in section 6) • are pregnant or breast-feeding • are taking any other medicines containing levocetirizine dihydrochloride or montelukast sodium. Take special care with Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets: • If you have liver or kidney problems, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of depression, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of fits (seizures), your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of heart problems, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. • If you have a history of high blood pressure, your doctor may want to monitor your condition more closely. Taking Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets with food and drink You can take Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets with or without food. Pregnancy and breast-feeding Do not take Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Driving and using machines Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery. Important information about some of the ingredients of Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets contain lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. 3. HOW TO TAKE LEVOCETIRIZINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 5MG + MONTELUKAST SODIUM 10MG TABLETS Always take Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet taken once a day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew the tablet. Do not take more than one tablet a day. If you take more Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets than you should If you take more Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets than you should, talk to a doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Take the medicine pack with you. This is so the doctor knows what you have taken. If you forget to take Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you stop taking Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets Do not stop taking Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets unless your doctor tells you to. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS Like all medicines, Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop taking Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride 5mg + Montelukast Sodium 10mg Tablets and see a doctor straight away if you notice any of the following serious side effects – you may need urgent medical treatment: • swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing • severe skin reactions such as rash, itching, hives, blisters or peeling of the skin.
