Etoricoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and gout. It is available in tablet form in strengths of 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg, and 120 mg. The recommended dose for adults is 60 mg once daily.

1. What Etoricoxib is and what it is used for

Etoricoxib belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase (COX). This helps to reduce pain and inflammation.

Etoricoxib is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used to treat acute pain and gout.

2. What you need to know before you take Etoricoxib

Do not take Etoricoxib

• if you are allergic to etoricoxib or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

• if you have had an asthma attack, hives or a runny nose after taking aspirin or any other NSAID.

• if you have had a stomach ulcer or bleeding in the stomach or intestines in the past.

• if you have severe heart failure.

• if you have severe liver or kidney problems.

• if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

• if you are taking other medicines that contain etoricoxib or any other NSAID (see section 3).

Some medicines may affect the way Etoricoxib works or Etoricoxib may affect the way other medicines work.

Do not take Etoricoxib with any other medicines that contain etoricoxib or any other NSAID (see section 3).

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Do not take Etoricoxib if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

Etoricoxib may make you feel dizzy or sleepy. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines.

Etoricoxib contains lactose

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

Storage

Etoricoxib 60 mg should be stored at a temperature between 15°C and 30°C. It should be kept away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Etoricoxib should not be taken by people who have had a heart attack, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular event, or who have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding. • ETORICOXIB 60 MG should not be used if you have a known allergy to etoricoxib or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

• ETORICOXIB 60 MG should not be used if you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines.

• ETORICOXIB 60 MG should not be used if you have a history of heart attack, stroke, or other heart problems.
