While spooky season has only just kicked off, ALDI is already decking the halls. The popular discount supermarket chain recently announced that it will soon be rolling out one of its most anticipated holiday items: the advent calendars.
From chocolate and cheese to wine, beer, and coffee, ALDI unveils a range of advent calendars every year to help count down the days until Christmas. Although the grocer hasn’t revealed the full 2022 lineup yet, it has provided a sneak peek of the items customers can unlock.

So far, the selection includes The Original Wine Advent Calendar, the Hard Seltzer Advent Calendar, the Emporium Selection Advent Cheese Calendar, and the Merry Moments My Friend Gnome Kit—fan-favorite items that typically sell out the fastest, according to Kate Kirkpatrick, ALDI’s Director of Communications.
But there are more surprises in store. In addition to its classic advent calendars, ALDI will also be debuting brand new ones, which will be announced in October.
“We typically see crowds of shoppers line up before store hours to get their hands on our famous calendars,” Kirkpatrick tells The Takeout. “They’re expected to sell out fast.”
In line with the annual tradition, the chain will be releasing the calendars on the first Wednesday of November, which falls on November 2 this year. The date was revealed in a recent Instagram post shared by ALDI. This marks the grocery chain’s third National Advent Calendar Day.
And as expected, hundreds of Instagram users flocked to the comments section of ALDI’s announcement of the long-awaited holiday items. One person wrote, “BEST TIME OF THE YEAR ???,” while another user commented, “I’m gonna have to take the day off work. [Every time] I get there after opening…it’s gone??.”

ALDI isn’t the only grocery chain where customers can pick up holiday advent calendars. Just over a month ago, Instagram user @costcoinsider spotted Costco’s wine advent calendar in a Waltham, Mass. store. Fully stocked with 24 half-size bottles of wine from around the world, the popular holiday item is available for $99.99—the same price as last year, though prices may vary by location.
