WHAT GABAPENTIN 400MG + NORTRIPTYLINE 10MG CAPSULES ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules are a combination of two medicines, Gabapentin and Nortriptyline. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant medicine used to treat epilepsy and certain types of nerve pain. Nortriptyline is an antidepressant medicine used to treat depression. Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules are used to treat a type of nerve pain called neuropathic pain. 2. BEFORE YOU TAKE GABAPENTIN 400MG + NORTRIPTYLINE 10MG CAPSULES Do not take Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules if you: • are allergic (hypersensitive) to gabapentin, nortriptyline or any of the other ingredients of Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules (listed in section 6) • are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them in the last 14 days • are taking or have taken a medicine called linezolid in the last 14 days • are pregnant or breast-feeding • are under 18 years of age Take special care with Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules if you: • have a history of depression or other mental health problems • have a history of suicidal thoughts or behaviour • have a history of mania or bipolar disorder • have a history of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) • have a history of heart problems • have a history of liver or kidney problems • have a history of seizures • have a history of urinary retention • have a history of alcohol or drug abuse • are elderly (over 65 years of age) • are taking other medicines for depression or anxiety • are taking other medicines for pain • are taking other medicines for seizures • are taking other medicines for sleep • are taking other medicines for allergies • are taking other medicines for colds or flu • are taking other medicines for heart problems • are taking other medicines for high blood pressure • are taking other medicines for diabetes • are taking other medicines for HIV or AIDS • are taking other medicines for Parkinson’s disease • are taking other medicines for mental health problems • are taking other medicines for stomach problems • are taking other medicines for thyroid problems • are taking other medicines for asthma • are taking other medicines for blood clotting • are taking other medicines for blood pressure • are taking other medicines for cancer • are taking other medicines for infections • are taking other medicines for muscle spasms • are taking other medicines for Parkinson’s disease • are taking other medicines for psychiatric disorders • are taking other medicines for seizures • are taking other medicines for skin conditions • are taking other medicines for urinary problems Taking other medicines Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following: • monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) • linezolid • medicines for depression or anxiety • medicines for pain • medicines for seizures • medicines for sleep • medicines for allergies • medicines for colds or flu • medicines for heart problems • medicines for high blood pressure • medicines for diabetes • medicines for HIV or AIDS • medicines for Parkinson’s disease • medicines for mental health problems • medicines for stomach problems • medicines for thyroid problems • medicines for asthma • medicines for blood clotting • medicines for blood pressure • medicines for cancer • medicines for infections • medicines for muscle spasms • medicines for Parkinson’s disease • medicines for psychiatric disorders • medicines for seizures • medicines for skin conditions • medicines for urinary problems Pregnancy and breast-feeding Do not take Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. Driving and using machines Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules may make you feel sleepy or dizzy. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines. 3. HOW TO TAKE GABAPENTIN 400MG + NORTRIPTYLINE 10MG CAPSULES Always take Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The usual dose is one capsule taken three times a day. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the capsule. If you take more Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules than you should If you take more Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules than you should, talk to a doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Take the medicine pack with you. This is so the doctor knows what you have taken. If you forget to take Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you stop taking Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules Do not stop taking Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules unless your doctor tells you to. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS Like all medicines, Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop taking Gabapentin 400mg + Nortriptyline 10mg Capsules and see a doctor straight away if you notice any of the following serious side effects – you may need urgent medical treatment: • Allergic
