Starbucks and Dunkin have swapped out pumpkin spice for peppermint, while Shake Shack has put a holiday spin on its legendary milkshakes. Now, Chick-fil-A is joining in on the joyful spirit by reviving two fan-favorite holiday menu items.
The Peppermint Chip Milkshake and Chicken Tortilla Soup are back at Chick-fil-A for the holiday season. The best part is, these beloved menu items are available for purchase at all locations nationwide starting today.
These two items have some serious history at the chain. The holiday milkshake was first introduced in 2008, but has continued to be highly requested by customers. Chick-fil-A reports that more Peppermint Chip Milkshakes were ordered in 2021 than in any other year. The Chicken Tortilla Soup was actually on the menu of Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy’s original dine-in restaurant in Georgia. It first debuted on Chick-fil-A menus in 2012.
“As one of our most popular seasonal items, we’re always excited to bring back the Peppermint Chip Milkshake to our menus. We know that it’s a part of our customers’ holiday traditions,” Leslie Neslage, Director Of Menu & Packaging At Chick-fil-A, said in a recent press release.
For the Peppermint Chip Milkshake, Chick-fil-A uses the season’s finest peppermint bark and blends it into their hand-spun Icedream—otherwise known as the chain’s signature old-fashioned vanilla soft-serve—then it gets its finishing touches of whipped cream and a cherry on top.
In a bowl of Chick-fil-A’s Chicken Tortilla Soup, you’ll find a combination of spicy and original shredded chicken mixed into a white creamy soup base that contains vegetables and black beans, finally topped with seasoned corn tortilla strips.
In terms of the shake, this year Chick-fil-A may have some peppermint competition. Wendy’s is said to be releasing a brand-new Peppermint frosty on Nov. 15, just one day after the Peppermint Chip Milkshake, and Shake Shack’s Chocolate Peppermint shake debuted yesterday.
