Fans are likening this new creation to a grown-up version of the Italian Original Chicken Sandwich—which has been on and off the menu since 2014. You may recall, Burger King nixed the hand-breaded Ch’King chicken sandwiches earlier this year. While they received positive reviews from customers, they didn’t seem to move the needle as expected in terms of sales. Those were replaced by the Royal Crispy Chicken line of sandwiches which Burger King reported were easier to make. And the new items seem to be catching on since the Italian Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich is the latest addition to that line.

The revamp of chicken offerings is part of Burger King’s “Reclaim the Flame” campaign. Part of the $400 million plan to upgrade its image was to build a “destination-worthy Chicken Sandwich portfolio.

This news follows leaked info that Wendy’s is debuting two Italian-themed sandwiches, a chicken sandwich and a burger, around Nov. 15. We’ll see which the fans like better when they both his stores just before Thanksgiving.
