Introduction

Walmart and Target are two of the largest retailers in the United States, and they have recently changed their COVID-19 policies in response to the pandemic. The new policies are designed to help protect customers and employees from the spread of the virus. The changes include requiring customers to wear face masks, limiting the number of customers in stores, and providing contactless payment options. Additionally, both stores have implemented new food safety protocols to ensure that customers are eating safe and healthy food. This article will discuss the new policies and how they can help customers make healthier food choices.

Walmart and Target Just Changed This COVID-19 Policy — Eat This Not That

Walmart and Target have recently announced a change to their COVID-19 policies. Starting this week, both stores will require customers to wear face masks while shopping in their stores. This policy change is in line with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendation that people wear face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

The new policy applies to all Walmart and Target stores in the United States, and customers who do not comply with the policy will be asked to leave the store. Walmart and Target have also implemented other safety measures, such as social distancing markers, increased cleaning and sanitization, and contactless payment options.

The new policy is an important step in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It is important to remember that wearing a face mask is not a substitute for social distancing and other preventive measures, such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

Walmart and Target are also encouraging customers to practice safe food handling and preparation. This includes washing your hands before and after handling food, avoiding cross-contamination, and cooking food to the proper temperature. Eating healthy and nutritious foods is also important for maintaining a strong immune system.

By following these guidelines, you can help protect yourself and others from the spread of COVID-19. Remember to wear a face mask when shopping at Walmart and Target, practice safe food handling and preparation, and eat healthy and nutritious foods.

It’s been nearly two years since the first pandemic safety rules were introduced in grocery stores across the country. Since then, precautions have been added and some have ended—and two major retail chains just announced another major change.

In mid-February, Walmart sent out a staff memo telling employees that if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, they no longer need to wear a mask in the store while working, starting March 31. And now, Target is following suit and taking it a step further Winsight Grocery Business recently discovered.

In an update to the Frequently Asked Questions page on its website, Target now offers this response in regards to shoppers needing to wear masks in stores:

“The health and safety of our guests and team members have been Target’s top priority throughout the pandemic. As COVID-19 cases continue to decline across the country, Target will not require our U.S. team members or guests to wear masks, as local regulations allow. We’ll follow all state and local COVID-19 safety regulations and encourage our team members and guests to consult the latest public health guidance, get vaccinated and make decisions to keep themselves and their families safe.”

The retail chain says it’s still providing employees with face masks and COVID-19 tests. Walmart employs about 1.6 million people across the country, and Target about 350,000.

As these two grocery stores—along with state and local governments from coast to coast—make new changes, other grocery stores may follow.
