Introduction

McDonald’s is facing some serious backlash from customers after offering a freebie deal that many are calling underwhelming. The fast-food chain recently announced that customers who purchase a large McCafé beverage will receive a free breakfast sandwich. However, customers are not impressed with the deal, as many feel that the sandwich is not worth the price of the beverage. In this article, we’ll take a look at why customers are mocking McDonald’s freebie deal and what the chain could do to make it more appealing.

Customers Are Mocking This Fast-Food Chain’s Underwhelming Freebie Deal

Fast-food chain Burger King recently announced a new promotion that promised customers a free Whopper sandwich with the purchase of a Whopper sandwich. Unfortunately, the deal has been met with a lot of criticism from customers who feel that the offer is underwhelming.

The promotion, which was announced on the Burger King website, promised customers a free Whopper sandwich with the purchase of a Whopper sandwich. The deal was meant to be a way for customers to get two Whopper sandwiches for the price of one. However, many customers have taken to social media to express their disappointment with the offer.

One customer wrote on Twitter, “Burger King’s ‘buy one get one free’ Whopper deal is a joke. It’s like they’re trying to make us feel bad for wanting a free sandwich.” Another customer wrote, “Burger King’s ‘buy one get one free’ Whopper deal is a ripoff. I’d rather just buy one Whopper and get a free side of fries.”

The criticism of the promotion has been so widespread that Burger King has been forced to respond. In a statement, the company said, “We understand that some customers may not be satisfied with our ‘buy one get one free’ Whopper deal. We are always looking for ways to improve our promotions and we appreciate the feedback we have received.”

It remains to be seen if Burger King will make any changes to the promotion in response to the criticism. In the meantime, customers who are looking for a better deal may want to consider other fast-food chains that offer more generous promotions.

Fast-food chains have been chockablock with freebie deals the past few months. In October alone, Wendy’s handed out free frosties, burgers, and nuggets, Taco Bell surprised fans with breakfast burritos, and Popeyes launched its ongoing Grubhub deal. Burger King showered customers with complimentary chicken sandwiches in November, and now McDonald’s is about to kick off its Mariah Menu—12 days of free food running from December 13 up until Christmas Eve. The bar for freebie deals, at the moment, couldn’t be higher.

But Raising Cane’s seems to have missed the memo. The Louisiana-based chicken chain just announced a new “freebie” event of its own—a monthlong giveaway of single servings of Cane’s Sauce.

In celebration of their signature sauce’s recent recognition as the #1 most craveable sauce in fast food, the chain will be gifting members of its rewards program with free, single servings of its proprietary sauce once per week for the month of December. Yup, we’re talking a free sauce serving . . . once a week.

Naturally, fans of Raising Cane’s aren’t too impressed with the move and have been sharing their scoff on Reddit. “This is the most underwhelming free item in the history of fast food,” said the top comment that seemed to speak for the majority.

Other top comments include a joke about Raising Cane’s 40 cent surcharge for additional packets of Cane’s Sauce, which, according to the customer, should be free of charge in the first place, and a post revealing the recipe for the “proprietary” sauce, which seems to be easy enough to make at home.

However, free sauce is, in fact, a big deal for Raising Cane’s. According to one customer on the subreddit, the chain typically serves no more than two packets of sauce with any order of its chicken strips, and charges 35 cents for each additional serving.

If Cane’s Sauce really is that good—worthy of the #1 spot in fast food and an upcharge of 35 cents per pack—then Raising Cane’s is, in some sense, giving its customers a valuable freebie. But then again, customers might be better off using that bootleg recipe to make their own version at home.
